VR Documentary

2016

Associate Professor Dana Coester and Teaching Assistant Professor David Smith, along with a student team from the 2016 Experimental Storytelling classes, produced a documentary series called “Muslim in Appalachia.” The documentary short uses VR storytelling to create intimacy, insight and empathy across racial and religious divides and to tell the diverse stories of Muslims within Appalachian communities.

The documentary follows eight subjects in West Virginia through the election year and the first year of a Trump presidency.
